Savannah was diagnosed with metastatic Synovial Sarcoma in late 2025 after experiencing severe upper gastric pain that led to imaging revealing innumerable lung nodules. Following extensive testing, biopsies, PET scans, MRIs, and genetic testing at MD Anderson Cancer Center, doctors identified her primary tumor in her upper left arm and confirmed the presence of the SS18 gene mutation associated with Synovial Sarcoma.
Savannah underwent six cycles of AIM chemotherapy (Adriamycin, Ifosfamide, and Mesna). During treatment, she developed severe back pain, and imaging later revealed a metastatic lesion in her L1 vertebra, which was treated with targeted radiation therapy. Despite the physical and emotional toll of treatment, Savannah completed all planned chemotherapy and radiation sessions. Her lung nodules responded significantly to treatment and largely disappeared on imaging, while her primary tumor shrank to approximately 3 centimeters. She is currently under close surveillance with CT scans every three months.
Outside of her diagnosis, Savannah is a wife, mother, advocate, and community servant. She serves as the Social Outreach Coordinator and Pathway of Hope Coordinator for The Salvation Army of Johnson County, helping individuals and families overcome barriers and build stability. She is passionate about advocacy, financial literacy, and connecting others with resources and support.
Savannah and her husband, Josh, are raising their daughter, Peighton, while continuing to make memories through camping trips, community events, and family time. Throughout her cancer journey, Savannah has remained committed to using her voice to raise awareness for synovial sarcoma and help others feel less alone in their own experiences.
