Seth was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma in his left knee in November 2020 after initially being misdiagnosed with a vascular malformation in 2018. Prior to his diagnosis, Seth underwent two embolization procedures in 2018 while searching for answers to his symptoms.
Seth participated in a radiation clinical trial at UCLA Medical Center, where he underwent five days of radiation treatment before surgery in December 2020 with Dr. Nicholas Bernthal to remove the 3.2 cm tumor with clear margins.
In December 2021, Seth underwent surgery with Dr. Jane Yanagawa to remove a 9mm lung nodule with clear margins after the cancer spread to his lungs. He later completed six rounds of AIM chemotherapy, targeted therapy with Votrient, and participated in the C4 Therapeutics clinical trial at City of Hope under the care of Dr. Mark Agulnik.
Throughout his journey, Seth became deeply involved in fundraising and advocacy efforts for Synovial Sarcoma research through the Synovial Sarcoma Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). His efforts helped raise more than $250,000 to support initiatives including the Synovial Sarcoma Registry & Biorepository, the Synovial Sarcoma Tumor Board, and collaborative research efforts focused on improving treatment options for patients.
Seth attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA, where he studied philosophy and embraced life with curiosity, compassion, and adventure. An avid surfer and traveler, Seth was known for his positivity, deep thinking, and ability to connect meaningfully with others, even while navigating years of treatment and recurrence.
Seth passed away on October 10, 2025, at the age of 24. His legacy lives on through the research initiatives he helped launch, the awareness he brought to synovial sarcoma, and the countless patients and families he inspired along the way.
